Evangelism

The Evangelism Ministry

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Matthew 28:18-20
The Mission of the Evangelism Ministry is to empower members to reach the world with the message and love of Jesus Christ and to create systems that foster church growth.  Ministries of Evangelism at St. James include:
Quarterly Friends and Family Days
Four times a year St. James hosts "Friends and Family Days" in which we target our "unchurched" or "between churched" friends and family members and invite them to worship.
The Development and Implementation of an Evangelism Curriculum
Every two years members of St. James are trained in the latest ways of doing evangelism.  In 2019 we will be using the "Engage Curriculum" from the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
Tent and Fall Revivals
Each summer St. James takes its worship literally "to the streets" through our Tent Revival.  Each night we hold worship in a neighborhood around the church in hopes of fellowshipping with residents and reaching those who do not attend church.  In the fall of each year we host our traditional 3 night revival in the sanctuary.
The Prayer Warriors and Prayer Training Institute
Because prayer is at the heart of Christian living, St. James is committed to being a "Prayer Saturated Church".  Through the Prayer Warriors and the Prayer Training Institute, members are trained and empowered to be people of prayer.  Classes on prayer are held quarterly and books are always available in our Manna Book Store!!
Visitor Follow-Up
Through our Evangelism Ministry, visitors are contacted and thanked for attending within 36 hours of their visit.  Pastors pray for visitors by name at a special staff prayer time on Tuesdays in the hopes that the Holy Spirit will draw them closer and meet their needs.
